"What Business Are You In?"
Its been a while. Even the best of us have
to take some time off. My recent time off has been GLORIOUS! I welcomed
a new baby into the world. Spent a couple of months cuddled up on
the sofa with baby girl Hayes and a few great business tomes that
Id been meaning to get to
you might know that feeling?
Well, thats for another day, but one of those
books helped me get a very firm grip on a concept I had already
been teaching for the past year in my Results Revolution 12-Step
seminars. Step Two: Know What Business Youre In. Some of you
may have attended a workshop where I muddled through this step.
I knew what I meant, but I seriously doubt that I got the point
across.
So, for those of you struggling to differentiate
your business from your competition, you can thank Michael Gerber,
author of The E-Myth: Revisited, for my new grasp on

What business are you in? Do you sell shoes, software,
appliances, construction services, coffee, legal services or medical
services? I bet you dont. See the problem is that you sell
what people buy. And people buy feelings. Let me say that again
to make sure you get it: PEOPLE BUY FEELINGS.
So, lets rethink this. Maybe you could sell
success (I do), confidence, convenience, safety, compassion, or
happiness.
Your customers are looking for an experience. They
want to buy something different from you. Sell them a consistent
emotional experience and your products and services will just walk
out the door.

welcomed a baby girl, Rachel Rebecca, into their home on November
9, 2004. Rachel weighed 9 lbs and 1 oz. She was 21.25 inches long.
At five months, she already has a healthy interest in a computer
